Participation Rules and Guidelines for Students, Alumni,Faculty and Staff Members
Participation is the single most important part to having a competitive floor in multiple leagues to compete for the All-School Championship. Floors that use these rules to their benefit have the advantage over floors that do not use these guidelines.
Off-Winger Participation
Every floor is allowed to have off-wing participants play with them in their sports. This can be a great addition by adding that key piece that you may have been missing for your team. An off-winger could be a commuter, alumni or faculty member. An off-winger could also be another resident student under specific circumstances.
Commuters, alumni, and faculty are encouraged to get involved and become off-winger with floors to help create relationships and add to the ORU experience. Commuters, alumni and faculty can also create their own teams separate from floors to play throughout the year.
Traditionally, the intramural program has many faculty, staff, alumni and commuter members participate in our annual activities. In addition to having the opportunity to stay physically fit and enjoyment of maintaining a competitive spirit, our activities present a great opportunity for them to build relationships with our residential students and it's a great opportunity for our mature participants to demonstrate and maintain a Christ-like demeanor during intense competition.
Even though there are limitations on the number of faculty, staff, alumni and commuter members who can participate on residential teams, the department is attempting to improve the communication and networking opportunities with these groups.
Draft Pool
A draft pool has been set up to allow non-residential individuals the opportunity to be identified as teams are formed. This tool will display contact information as well as such as information as skill level and experience of those interested in being drafted by participationg sports teams.
