Communication, Arts and Media

Welcome Students

Welcome to the largest and most diversified department in the College of Arts and Cultural Studies. The mission of the Communication, Arts and Media Department is to prepare students to achieve a cultural background in communication, to pursue graduate degrees, to receive state certification as speech/drama/debate teachers, and to become servant-leaders in ministry, law, drama, politics, electronic media, journalism, public relations, advertising and human resources development as they "...go into every person's world."

As one of the largest departments in the university, we offer majors in: drama, drama/television/film performance, mass media communications (including multimedia production, convergence journalism, public relations and advertising), organizational/interpersonal communication and secondary school certification in communication arts.

We publish an award winning yearbook and newspaper, operate a closed circuit radio and TV station, produce three major theatre productions per year and host an active touring Christian drama ministry team called 'Manna'. Our Multimedia Institute for junior level Multimedia Communication majors features new studios, state of the art electronic equipment, and computer labs. We have added a Media Technology Summer Institute which features an introduction to new technologies, authoring for disc and creating websites. Our organizational/interpersonal majors have a great impact on our community with internships in churches, businesses, human resources centers, and the political arena. Our public relations and advertising majors also have internships in the city and community service projects that give our young people an opportunity to share their academic excellence and their faith with businesses and underprivileged areas of Tulsa.
