Course work, club activities keep ORU English and Modern Languages Department busy
Students in the Oral Roberts University's English and Modern Languages Department have been busy this fall - not only with course work but also with club activities.
In October, the Spanish Club kicked off their events with Star Wars (Spanish with English subtitles), and in November they met for game night. On November 4, French language majors and minors joined the English Club for a showing of La Vie en Rose (French with English subtitles) at the First Friday Movie Night at Dr. Bill Epperson's home. Also in November, literary students met for the second Promethia poetry reading of the semester, this time at a local Camille's Bistro.
With the Christmas holidays approaching, plans were put in place for the English Club, the Sigma Tau Delta Honor Society, and C.S. Lewis and the Inklings Club to join forces for their annual Christmas party, including readings from J.R.R. Tolkien's Father Christmas Letters, at Dr. Joann Allen's home. In keeping with Israeli tradition, the Hebrew Culture Club is celebrating Hanukkah-complete with dreidel games, traditional foods, and prayers - at the home of Hebrew Professor Lenore Mullican.
