ORU Dedicates New Veterans Lounge

Oral Roberts University held a dedication the new Veterans Lounge located in the Learning Resource Center. Speakers included, Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett; Chaplain Duie R. Jernigan, Colonel US Army retired; General Bob Ireton, Oklahoma Air National Guard retired; Nicholaus Berens, President of ORU Veterans Organization; and Dr. Mark Rutland, ORU President. The Jr. ROTC from Edison High School presented the colors and the ORU Chamber Singers performed "An American Tribute." This lounge is dedicated to the people who have served or are actively serving in any branch of the military. ORU has always been a patriotic campus that values the service and sacrifices of our men and women in uniform and we are pleased to now have a designated area honoring them.

ORU has recently begun a new Veterans Organization that will help serve the needs of ORU students who have served in one of the military branches. This organization will also serve in an advisory capacity to help ORU live up to its designation as a "Military Friendly Institution."
