Educational Leadership Doctoral (EDL)

The Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership is designed to provide professionals in education an opportunity to refine their skills and knowledge base. Advanced graduate studies will greatly benefit candidates who possess substantial experience in teaching and administration.

The primary delivery system for doctoral course offerings is an intensive, but enjoyable 4-day module class format. These modules have extensive pre and post assignments, simulations and dynamic in-class discussions.

The ORU Graduate School of Education doctoral program is a diverse community with participants not only from across the state, but also from around the world. As a student in the program, you will benefit significantly from your peers' national and international perspectives.

Core Courses

All doctoral students are required to take the following core courses:

  • Organizational Theory in Administration
  • History & Philosophy of Education
  • Leadership Studies
  • Strategies for Educational Change
  • Contemporary Curriculum Issues

Doctoral candidates choose from the following three concentrations:

  • College and Higher Education Administration Concentration (HEAC)
    This program is specifically designed for an experienced Christian school educator interested in advanced study in preparation for an executive or leadership assignment in a postsecondary Christian school, college or university.
  • Christian School Administration K-12 Concentration (CADC)
    This program is specifically designed for an experienced Christian school educator interested in advanced study in preparation for an executive or leadership assignment in a Christian elementary and/or secondary school.
  • Public School Administration Concentration (PADC)
    This program is specifically designed for an experienced educator interested in advanced study in preparation for administrative responsibilities in public educational leadership or executive assignments in public schools. This program prepares candidates for superintendency certification in the state of Oklahoma. Alternatively, candidates can choose to pursue an individualized plan of study to prepare them for superintendency certification in a different state or in other areas of educational leadership.
