Dr. Ardith Baker

Associate Professor of Business

In addition to teaching the quantitative courses in the College of Business, Ardith is the editor along with co-editor David Whitlock of the devotional book Solomon Was a Business Man - Advice from the Wealthiest Man on Earth. This book features devotionals by several ORU professors including Dr. Marshal Wright, Dr. Julie Huntley, Dr. David Dyson, Dr. Walt MacMillan, Chris Putman and, of course, Ardith and David Whitlock. The book that was five years in the writing was published in fall 2008.  In addition, Ardith is the founding editor and research editor of the online journal Scholarship of Teaching and Learning for Christians in Higher Education.

Ardith’s research interests are many but lately have been focused on the use of data envelopment analysis to evaluate the efficiency of higher education institutions, higher education ranking methods, methods for teaching statistics, and the use of statistics for the scholarship of teaching and learning.

When she’s not researching, writing, or teaching, Ardith spends her time with her husband and five grandchildren.  Her son attended ORU for two years before joining the Air Force and her daughter graduated from ORU’s School of Nursing in 2004.

More than anything else, Ardith enjoys getting to know the students at ORU.  “Long after they graduate, we’ll stay in touch.  Many of them, I’m sure, will be cherished lifelong friends,” Ardith commented.  The business professor, researcher, and part-time writer is right at home at ORU.
