Issues are published weekly and report on topics of current interest.

Full text is available in print format in the Reference Room, call number H35.E3353 LRC-R. Each volume, arranged on the shelves by year, contains one year of reports.

To locate a report on your topic, search or browse the Researcher index.

 

Use the Index to Find a Topic

—Reports are indexed by title under boldface topic headings. The report titles are followed by the date the report appeared and the first page number of its print version. (Record this information to locate the report on the shelves.)
—Indexes are updated monthly.

Three options are provided below for index use.

Browse the Free Online CQ Researcher Subject-Title Index

Topic headings are in boldface. The report titles are listed under the headings.

Example:
Gangs
   Community Prosecution
   Declining Crime Rates
   Gang Crisis

After you find a report, look at the columns on the right and record the issue date and page number.

To get the report "Gang Crisis" go to the Reference Room, call number H35.E3353 and in the CQ Researcher volume 2004 find page number 421.

Browse the Print Index

—Go to call number H35.E3353 LRC-R in the Reference Room.
—Get the most current complete year and browse the comprehensive "blue" index at the front of the volume.
—For reports that are published within the current year look on the back of the most current report.

Example:
If it is August 2007, use the comprehensive "blue" index at the front of the 2006 volume and look in the 2007 volume on the last page of the most current report, July 2007, for a list of the 2007 issue topics.

Search your topic in Academic Search PremierORU database

Academic Search Premier contains indexing and abstracts only for this publication. (Full text is available in print in the Reference Room, not in the database.)

To find a report on your topic type keyword(s) and Limit Results to Publication CQ Researcher.
Try a search!
Access Academic Search Premier (opens a new window).


1 . In the Find text box, type your topic or try gangs.
 
2. On the Refine Search tab, for Publication type CQ Researcher.

3. Click Search.

4. Review the results and click a title in the list to view the long record, which includes the abstract.

Record the date and page numbers of the report.

 

Get the Full Text
  • Go to the Reference Room, call number H35.E3353.
  • Look in the volume for the date you need and then look for the pages you recorded. (The year is shown below the call number on the book's spine.) Inquire at the Reference Desk for assistance.

The CQ Weekly is available in Academic Search Premier with abstracts and full text from 4/11/1998 through 14 days ago.

To locate a topic browse individual issues or search the content of all issues in Academic Search Premier.

Browse the CQ Weekly issues

On the Library Home Page, click Database List, and then click Academic Search Premier (opens a new window).
  1. In the green bar at the top of the EBSCOhost search page, choose 'Publications.' Type cq weekly in the text box, then click the Browse button.
  2. Click CQ Weekly, select a volume/issue, and then browse the list of articles.

Search the contents of all CQ Weekly issue

  1. In Academic Search Premier, type a broad subject/topic in the Find text box.
  2. On the Refine Search tab, for Publication type cq weekly in the text box. (See above example for CQ Researcher.)
  3. Click Search.
