Telephone, mail, or e-mail assistance is available to distance education students who need help developing research strategies or locating information sources. ORU distance education students should identify themselves and clearly state their information need. Some questions are quickly handled by the reference librarian; others require more time. Responses are provided as soon as possible.

Students requesting assistance should provide a phone number, e-mail address, or other means of contact. An appointment may be set up for in-depth consultation with a reference librarian.

Students may wish to check the reference sources available through the Internet. Many sources are linked under the Virtual Reference Desk. This is a categorized list of selected items available on the Internet, such as atlases, dictionaries, encyclopedias, and other reference resources. No special access is needed to use these Internet resources.

Students who access through ORUnet may wish to check the reference resources available on the ORU Library Home Page under Databases. A couple of ORU Library's online databases include the World Almanac and FactSearch (statistical resources). Searches can be limited to the type of document needed. For access to these resources which are limited to ORU users, see the Remote Access to Library Databases page.
