Description of the Library

The library is located on the fourth and fifth floors of the John D. Messick Learning Resources Center. The library holdings include over half a million items, including books, journals, microforms, and audiovisuals. Access to the materials is provided through an online public access catalog. All materials are obtained by the Acquisitions Department and processed by the Technical Services Department. The Public Services Department provides various library services for all schools of the University.

Special locations include:

  • The Reference Area, on the fourth floor, contains reference works to serve all the academic programs.

  • The Electronic Resource Center, on the fourth floor, provides access to Electronic databases and the Internet. An additional computer is used for CD-ROM products available only in the ERC.

    The Circulation Desk, on the fourth floor, is where the Circulation Staff performs all circulation transactions using the library computer system and maintains the shelving areas of the main collection.

  • The Reserve Area, on the fourth floor, is maintained for frequently used materials that are assigned in classes.

  • The Theology Collection is on the fourth floor and the Holy Spirit Research Center is on the fifth floor.

  • Periodicals, Microform Collection, CD-ROM Periodical Indexes, and Internet databases are located on the fourth floor. Readers and reader/printers are available for all kinds of microforms.

  • The Curriculum Media Center, on the fifth floor, contains the AV collection as well as children's literature, media for grades K-12, and other material for teachers.

  • The Music Listening Room, in Timko Barton Hall, contains a collection of scores, records, tapes, and compact discs.
