Q       Where are the periodicals?

A Periodicals in print and microfilm formats are available in the Periodicals Area on the 4th Floor of the LRC. Many periodicals are available online through the library’s electronic resources. Use the Journals List to locate periodicals online or in the library.

Q       Where are the newspapers?

Q       My instructor put materials on reserve. Where would I find them?

Q       How do I find theses and dissertations?

A  Movies and other videorecordings on DVD are shelved near the Circulation Desk on the 4th Floor of the LRC. You may browse the shelves, or use the library catalog or the title list at the Circulation Desk to search for them.

Q       Do you have audiobooks?

Books on CD are shelved with other audio-visual materials near the Circulation Desk on the 4th Floor of the LRC. You may browse the shelves, or use the library catalog to search for them using the Subject Keyword “Audiobooks.”

Q       Do you have books to read “just for fun”?

A The Leisure Reading Area provides ORU Library patrons with books of interest for personal enrichment and entertainment. The collection is shelved next to the New Books display on the 4th floor. Though the books can be easily browsed, patrons may search the Library Catalog (IPAC) for the availability of particular books or favorite authors.  These books are part of our regular circulating collection and may be checked out.

Using library materials

Q       How do I check out  books or other library materials?

A  Bring the items and your ORU ID (Eagle Card) to the Circulation Desk on the 4th floor of the LRC. Students must register for library services every year you are enrolled, either in person or online. Faculty and staff may register online here.

Q       How can I renew a book I've borrowed from the Library?

A  You may renew your library materials at the Renew books/My account link on the library webpage, at the Circulation Desk, or by calling 495-6391.

Q       If I need a book or article that the Library doesn't have, how can I get it?

Q       Where are the photocopiers?

A Photocopiers are located on the 4th floor near the Reference Desk and the Reserve Desk.

Q      What are PDF files and how can I read them in my browser?

Using computers in the library & at home

Q       Do you have computers I can use in the library?

A Yes. Computers are available in the Electronic Resources Center on the 4th floor of the LRC, for the use of ORU library patrons for research and academic use. Use your Novell username and password to login.

Q       Can I use my laptop in the library?  

A Yes. ORU’s wireless network is available throughout most of the library. Additionally, 26 wired ports have been placed around the perimeter of the 4th and 5th floors of the LRC. These sites are plug-in ready and located near electric outlets.

Q      Can I print in the library?

A Yes. The Electronic Resource Center has two laser printers. Cost is 10 cents per page, payable in cash at the Reference Desk.

Q      Can I use the library’s databases and e-books from off-campus?

A Courtesy phones for free local calls are located in the entryway to the 3rd floor of the LRC.

Q      How are materials selected for the ORU Library?

Q      Can I use my Eagle Card in the library?

A The Eagle Card is accepted for payment of library fines, and for photocopies in the Electronic Resource Center.
