DEFERMENTS

Oral Roberts University participates in the National Student Loan Clearinghouse located in Herndon, Virginia. Three times a semester (after the add/drop period, at mid term, and after finals), the University submits a report of students' enrollment status to the Clearinghouse which, in turn, supplies verification of enrollment to lending agencies. If you have enrolled late or have had an exception made for current term enrollment, your enrollment information may not be reported until the next submission. We will process deferment forms for students facing loan default. If you feel that a deferment form or verification letter is necessary please make your request at: the Registrar's Office (for undergraduate students) or the ALSC (for graduate and external degree seeking students).

The Clearinghouse asks that if a student receives a collections letter from a service, the student do the following:

  • Call the lending agency to see if a deferment form was received between the time the Clearinghouse supplied the information and the lending agency sent the collection letter.
  • If, after calling the service, it still appears that the deferment has not been processed, the student may call the Clearinghouse at (703) 742-7791 and ask for a Student Service Representative. The representative will verify the date on which the deferment information was received by the Clearinghouse, the date the deferment information was provided, the enrollment status that was certified, and where the information was sent.
  • If an emergency exists -- for example, the student is 150 days delinquent and being threatened with default -- the Clearinghouse will intervene on the student's behalf by faxing another enrollment certification to the service. The Clearinghouse will work with the service to ensure that the form is processed on a high-priority basis.

This service does not apply to:

  • Weekend University Students *
  • External Degree Seeking Students (SLLE) *
  • Any Summer Enrollment **

* Enrollment verification requests (including deferments) will be processed by the Adult Learning Center located on the third floor of the Learning Resource Center.

** Enrollment verification requests (including deferments) will be processed in the Registrar's Office.
