Seniors, the Registrar’s Office understands that you have many questions regarding graduation. For your convenience, here are some Frequently Asked Questions. If your questions do not get answered here, please call 495-6549
If you are a senior and will complete all your coursework in December, scroll to the bottom of the page for information specifically for you.
I have concerns about graduation, whom may I see?
Students should contact their advisor first. After seeing your advisor you may contact the ORU Registrar's Office and make an appointment to meet with an Academic Counselor.
How will I know I'm "on the graduation list"?
A list of students who have submitted their Application for Candidacy form will be published in March. This only verifies that your Application for Candidacy form was received-not that you qualify to graduate. Having your name on the initial list does not guarantee final clearance for Commencement participation.
What is a "Candidacy form"?
Your Application for Candidacy form is submitted online. Go to VISION, enter your ID and password, click on Student Services and Financial Aid and then ORU eforms. With this submission, students officially declare their intention to graduate.
Where do I pick up my cap, gown, hood tassels... regalia?
Students should contact Vickie at the ORU Bookstore at 918.495.6566 to purchase graduation related items, (regalia, diploma frames and other accessories).
Where do I order my Graduation Announcements?
The ORU Bookstore will process orders for Graduation Announcements online beginning November 2007. Go to www.herff-jones.com to order. Allow three weeks for delivery. Call 918.495.6566 or e-mail: oru@bkstr.com if you have questions.
When and where am I supposed to be for the Commencement ceremony?
Graduating students are required to participate in Commencement. Commencement Exercises will be held in the Mabee Center. Students are to arrive one hour prior to Commencement.
Is there a rehearsal for Commencement?
Yes. It will be held in the Mabee Center at noon on the day before the Commencement. All graduating students are required to attend. A reminder of the date and time and additional detailed information will be mailed in March to all candidates.
What is a "hooding" ceremony?
This is a ceremony hosted by your major department that honors each graduate. Check with your major department for details.
Can I participate in Commencement if I need to enroll in only one class during the summer?
No. All academic requirements and financial obligations must be met before Commencement.
