Career Services

www.collegecentral.com/oru

Career Services : (LRC 5 WEST) All undergraduate and graduate students are required to establish a "Placement File" in this office in order to utilize ORU’s placement resources. The Placement file includes a Release Authorization Form, a Contact Information Form and a current copy of your resume. ORU currently utilizes an online placement as well as other internet resources through the National Association of Colleges & Employers (NACE). In order to take advantage of these resources students and graduates will create a user profile at http://www.collegecentral.com/oru. The Career Services conducts bi-weekly workshops on vital career skills such as Resume Development, Successful Interviewing Techniques, Career Search Strategies, and Networking. The Career Services also maintains an online listing of career opportunities and contact information from various employers and alumni seeking graduates. The Career Services maintains a computer lab with links and special resources designed for career search activities. The lab may also be used to draft resumes and apply for positions offered on-line.

ORU STUDENT & ALUMNI REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS

All Students and Alumni are eligible to use the Oral Roberts University newonline placement database after completing the following registration process through a site that has been specially designed for the College & Career Guidance Center. Follow these simple steps:

  • Go to your school’s Career Center URL: www.collegecentral.com/oru
  • Select the appropriate Student or Alumni icon, and read the instructions on the next screen.
  • Go to the Register Now link.
  • Enter Oral Roberts University (if it‘s not already pre-filled), a unique ID and a Password that you will remember. Confirm your password.
  • Then Continue Registration.

REGISTRATION ENTRY

  • Enter all demographic information. Fields with an asterisk (*) are required, including email. Answer questions about where you want to work, the kinds of jobs that interest you, and your education. Employers will search this information to choose appropriate candidates, so be as thorough and complete as possible.
  • Go to your homepage. You may search for jobs without uploading a resume.

JOB SEARCH

  • From your homepage, select Search for Jobs Posted to My School, enter criteria specific to the type of job you are seeking, and then Begin Search. You may also Search for Jobs in CCN’s Jobs Central, a national jobs database.

When conducting a job search using CCN, be aware that by selecting several search criteria, such as Major, Job Targets, etc., you are narrowing your search. It is a good idea to conduct a focused search, but you may also want to try searching different criteria. To view all jobs posted, leave all the search fields blank. To monitor your job search, select View My Job Search History from your homepage.

RESUME ENTRY

  • From your homepage, select Upload a Resume. You should have a resume completed at this time to upload. Acceptable formats are listed. Browse for the file, select it, then Upload Your Resume.
  • Your resume will be reviewed and approved by our office before it can be submitted via the system and searched by employers. You will be notified by email when your resume has been approved.
  • If you do not upload a resume, employers will not be able to contact you.

Congratulations! You now know how to navigate through the

ORU College Central Network system.

Search for jobs anytime 24/7. After selecting the appropriate icon from the homepage, select Student or Alumni Central on the next screen. Enter Oral Roberts University and your ID and Password.
