- Oral Roberts University opened in 1965 with the vision of being a charismatic, interdenominational Christian liberal arts university
- ORU offers 63 undergraduate majors, 10 master’s degrees and 2 doctoral degrees
- The largest majors are mass media communications, pastoral Christian ministry, psychology, business administration, and nursing; the largest department is business
- The total number of students served for the 2004-05 academic year was 4,234
- Student to faculty ratio is 16:1
- ORU is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools
- Male to female ratio is 43:57
- Since 1965 students have come from all fifty states and 66 countries

- Approximately 250 students engage in service activity for the community of Tulsa each week, and they volunteer for 30 different outreaches throughout the year.
