CHEER TRY-OUT REQUIREMENTS/PROCEDURES

Requirements for ORU Cheerleading:
All students trying out for Cheerleading are encouraged but not required to attend the Tryout Clinic held Tuesday through Thursday. Attendance at the Preliminary Tryouts on Friday evening is mandatory. At this time, all those trying out must present the completed Spirit Program application form as well as the $25 application fee.
FEMALES
All female cheerleaders will be judged on personality, floor presence and skills. All female must be energetic athletic, have a good presence and advanced cheer and dance skills.
Tumbling Requirements:
Standing Tumbling: Cheerleaders must be able to execute some form of standing tumbling. Back hand springs are acceptable; however, standing backs are preferred. Running Tumbling: Preferred passes are round-off backs, hand spring backs, lay outs or fulls.
Stunting Requirements:
All females must have an advanced knowledge of co-ed stunting skills including pyramids and basket tosses. Required stunts will be one toss stunt, stunt with a twisting dismount and one stunt sequence of choice.
Try Out Attire:
Female participants should wear a plain white shirt with blue shorts and a white hair ribbon.
MALES
All males must be energetic with basic cheerleading skills and will be judged on presence and skill.

Standing Tumbling: Standing backs are preferred but not required.Running Tumbling: Some form of running tumbling is preferred but not required.
Stunting Requirements
