The Importance of Consistency and the Reason for These Guidelines From the heart and soul of this landmark university we have crafted an identity that clearly represents the foundational principles on which Oral Roberts University was built. Strict adherence to these principles will produce a distinct identity within the community of colleges and universities. These guidelines will also ensure a level of excellence in everything bearing the ORU name. This guide is an easy reference for all who may have a question regarding branding and general writing guidelines.
Significance of the ORU Logo The first striking element seen is the Prayer Tower emerging as light from within the symbol of a window. The window and downward sloping arc are drawn from the architecture of ORU. The Prayer Tower imagery within the logo is a continual reminder that the cross is the light and hope for all things. In step with the history and tradition of ORU the identity remains blue and gold. Three blue squares mark the Holy Trinity, the gold representing the word of God going out into the world.
Logo must be left justified in the top corner, with no text or pictures above it
Any text on the same page as the logo must be in New Times Roman
Absolutely no stretching or distorting the logo in any way; this includes changing colors, tilting, highlighting, shadowing, rearranging, outlining the logo or reducing the opacity
When used with text, such as an advertisement or article, leave a generous amount of White space around the logo (the White space around the logo must be as high and wide as the “O” in the logo’s “ORU”)
If a logo is sent to you, it is for your use only and may not be shared. All logo requests must come through the Public Relations department.

MEDIA RELATIONS
If a member of the media calls:
Often members of the media will call to talk to an expert on a certain topic. Do not attempt to handle an interview situation on your own. These should all be facilitated through the Public Relations office. If a member of the media contacts you directly, immediately transfer them to Jeremy Burton, Director of Public Relations at ext. 6649.
If you have news for the media:
Please keep the Public Relations office up-to-date on the events happening in your area. There may be news items that should be distributed to media outlets on campus, in the Tulsa area, or in a broader region.
For announcements you would like to have on the flat panel screens around campus, please refer to the Digital Signage Request Form. Also keep in mind that the sooner we receive information about an event the more places we can put it. For example monthly community calendars sometimes require information a few months in advance.
MANAGING YOUR INVENTORY Please carefully manage your inventory of printed materials. Mark your calendar and monitor your inventory to remind you when to reorder. It’s best not to wait until the last few copies of a project have been used.
POSTAL GUIDELINES We work closely with representatives of the United States Postal Service (USPS) to ensure your project meets current postal regulations. Remember to allow ample time for the mailing process.
EVENT INFORMATION FORM This form is for use in keeping Public Relations informed about your department’s events. We use many different outlets to inform students, faculty, staff and the public of events at ORU. The more information we have about your event the more we can publicize it for you. However the final decision on how and where to publicize the event is left to the discretion of the public relations department.
ITEMS AVAILABLE AT THE PRINT SHOP Generic ORU stationery items (letterhead, No. 10 envelopes with and without windows, notecards/envelopes, pocket folders, notepads, fax sheet paper, and shipping labels) are stocked at the Print Shop for you to purchase by the ream, box and carton. Click here for a print shop request form.
PROMOTIONAL PRODUCTS We have excellent working relationships with local vendors. Please feel free to order your promotional products (shirts, pens, etc.) from wherever you would like, but go through us to get the art put on them. We stay communicate the vendor so that the logo and artwork stay consistent.
