Air Handling Systems in EMR and Claudius Residence Halls

At ORU, Energy Recovery Ventilation (ERV) is very important. As a result, ERV has been instituted for both the EMR and Claudius Residence Halls.
Energy Recovery Ventilation is the energy recovery process of exchanging the energy contained in normally exhausted building or space air and using it to treat (precondition) the incoming outdoor ventilation air in residential and commercial HVAC systems. The benefit of using energy recovery is the ability to meet the ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers) ventilation & energy standards, while improving indoor air quality and reducing total HVAC equipment capacity.
Prior to this new system, these Residence Halls experienced high humidity, negative air flow, a degradation of the facilities and low air quality. We have completely eliminated this situation by closing all windows to each building and introducing conditioned air that has taken advantage of recovering some of the energy existing in the current air temperature by using it from the building space. In addition, Since Claudius and EMR are on a two(2) pipe water system for their HVAC,  it sometimes takes on average 3-5 days to convert from AC to Heat and vice versa. The advancements made in this area are wonderful for our students and our facilities. Thank you for your understanding in this area.

Dispelling a Financial Aid Myth

One of the most common misconceptions about financial aid is that the only students who qualify are either exceptionally smart or exceptionally poor. This is a myth that Financial Aid administrators consistently attempt to dispel. The truth is there are many types of financial aid that are not based solely on academic performance or financial need. You might be surprised at the number of eligible students who do not receive financial aid because of lack of information or misinformation. Read more of this article.

Staying on the Cutting Edge of Service

The staff consistently desires to exceed the global, multidimensional needs and expectations of our students. Recently, representatives from thirteen university departments ranging from Admissions to Student Development to Auxiliary Services participated in two professional development workshops. The first focused on sensitivity to diversity and the second on how to effectively communicate across generational lines. We thought that you as parents might enjoy hearing the highlights of these presentations. Read more of this article.

New Amnesty and Restoration Policy Offers Help for Students

The Oral Roberts University Board of Trustees voted unanimously to adopt a new amnesty and restoration policy for students who are struggling in areas that may violate the values and principles of Oral Roberts University and the Honor Code that is signed by all students. A process for amnesty and restoration has been in place for many years but there was not a formal policy established until now. Students who utilize this new policy may receive support and spiritual guidance through the Student Development or the Spiritual Formation departments by requesting amnesty and seeking restoration. The amnesty and restoration policy does not exempt students from the policies of the university, nor does it condone behavior that is immoral, criminal, or unethical. Read more of this article.
