Career Quick Facts
The following statistics were gathered by NACE from their 2007 Graduating Student Survey:
- 52 percent of students who reported securing full time jobs had applied for a job through campus career center-sponsored career fair.
- 41 percent had posted their resumes through their campus career center's web site.
- Although these two methods above are very effective, they were not the most popular among students.
- Their study shows that students who actually got full-time jobs tended to use their college career center and its resources more heavily than those who skipped over the career center and went directly to the employer.
The following was gathered by NACE from their Fall 2007 Salary Survey:
NACE's research show that some short-supply disciplines are actually loosing the interest of college students despite their substantial starting salaries. An example of this is the discipline of Computer Information Technology, whose graduates earn an average starting salary of $51,992, however it has an annual growth rate of -0.6 percent
The following is a chart of the fields that are of greater attraction for students:
|Discipline||Annual Growth Rate*||2007 Average Salary Offer**|
|Visual & Performing Arts||2.6%||$30,174|
|History & Social Science||0.8%||$33,763|
|Computer Information Technology||-0.6%||$51,992|
