In the mid 1960’s through the early 70’s, ORU owned and operated a 100 thousand watt, FM radio station, under the call letters, KORU. During the summer of 1972, KORU's terrestrial frequency was sold and returned as a student station broadcasting to the ORU campus only through the DAIRS system. Several years ago, the student radio station went silent.

On August 26, 2011, KORU was reborn as "KORU mBox,” a student-managed and staffed Internet radio station broadcasting globally 24 hours a day seven days a week. The mBox, featuring Christian music from praise and worship to rock to rap, has two streams in English and Español; overseen by undergraduate and graduate students and station managers, Ben Norrell and Nancy Lizette Ramirez Nava, respectively. Special programming covers campus news including athletics and current events, talk shows, radio drama and seasonal music. The mBox's format caters to four main audiences - current students, prospective students, alumni and parents of students. "The four goals are education, entertainment, recruitment and evangelism," said faculty adviser Mark Labash. "We're aiming to teach people about radio production, play solid Christian music with a good beat, get students to come to ORU, and most importantly, to spread the word of Jesus to people in Tulsa and around the world." You may listen to the mBox by clicking the link in the navigation bar for the standalone players for both streams AND on your smart device through the LIVE 365 app which you may download today. "KORU is born again," said Labash.
