Community Outreach

Making a Difference, One Person at a Time

When you're a student at ORU, you don't have to go to China, Africa or Central America to make a difference in someone's life. With the investment of a few hours, you can have a huge impact right here in Tulsa. Community Outreach sends out an average of 15 teams per week to serve those in need right here in our own backyard. Students participate in eerything from street witnessing to mentoring and tutoring at-risk youth and building houses with Habitat for Humanity.

Through Adopt a Block students concentrate on one small area, helping senior adults with jobs like lawn mowing or painting. Through this program, students also assist single parents with simple home repairs, errands or being a friend to a hurtingStudents building a house with Habitat for Humanity child. In short, we show the love of Christ to the people of our community, making a difference one person at a time.

In addition to our local efforts, ORU missions teams occasionally help out in other areas of the country. For instance, a team traveled to Long Beach, Mississippi, to help clean up areas ravaged by Hurricane Katrina.

Service is essential to the Christian life. Through community outreach you can have an impact for good close to home.
