Pumping Up Golden Eagle Pride

O running croppedORU's NCAA Division I Athletics give everyone on campus something to cheer about, and our co-ed cheer squad leads the way. Whether they are stunting on the sidelines or tumbling across the court, cheerleaders enhance school spirit, fire up the crowd during basketball games and support the teams.

You can see the cheerleaders at all home men's and women's basketball games, and occasionally at away games as well. The cheerleaders are also present at a number of volleyball and soccer games throughout the season to cheer on the teams.

The nationally competitive squad has earned top ten finishes the last two years in their division at the NCA Collegiate National Cheer Championship. Try-outs normally take place each year during ORU's Spring College Weekend, so that incoming students may compete for a spot on the squad. The next tryout dates are scheduled for April 19-21, 2012. Cheerleaders return to school early in the fall to participate in camp and practice regularly, several times a week, throughout the school year. Scholarships are available to squad members.  Because of the dedication and hard work required to take part in cheerleading, squad members must be able to manage their time well and  successfully handle their academic loads in addition to a rigorous schedule.
