EPSCoR Women in Science Conference
The Oklahoma Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) Women in Science Conference hosted its first event in the Tulsa area on October 14, 2014 at the Mabee Center on the campus of Oral Roberts University.
To encourage students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields, this free one-day conference provides students in grades six through 12 opportunities to experience a variety of hands-on activities, receive science and technology career guidance from Oklahoma’s top female scientists and engineers, and obtain college preparation information from a variety of resources.
More than 800 students and teachers from 50 schools across the state attended the event. Dr. Sophie Liu, ORU Professor of Engineering, led a team to attend the conference, and, along with Dr. Elena Gregg, ORU Assistant Professor of Physics, and four ORU engineering students, hosted a hands-on science and recruitment booth to promote ORU and the ORU Science and Engineering programs at the conference.
