The Oral Roberts University Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) team was announced Champion in their league during the Dallas, Texas SIFE USA Regional Competition on March 30, 2010, and invited to participate in the SIFE National Competition. This event was one of 11 SIFE USA Regional Competitions being held in the United States during the months of March and April. The National Competition will take place May 11-13 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where the ORU SIFE team will compete among approximately 140 teams for the National title.

Along with the title of Regional Champion, ORU's SIFE team also took two individual awards for projects in financial literacy and market economics. These papers give the ORU SIFE team additional areas of competition at the national level.

SIFE teams create economic opportunities by organizing outreach projects that focus on market economics, entrepreneurship, personal financial planning, success skills, and business ethics. During this academic year, the ORU SIFE team organized 29 projects in both local and international locations. Several projects included partnering with World Compassion in obtaining the lowest price possible to purchase shoes for children in Iraq, working with Mpower in getting girls off the streets in the Nepal to learning the trade of sewing, traveling to Paraguay to teach workshops on various business-related topics, further developing a student leadership conference, and teaching entrepreneurial skills to local artists.

Jennifer Cook, Director of the Business Advisory Board & Fundraising states: "The greatest aspect of SIFE is the real world experience students acquire while working on these projects along with understanding and realization that they can change the world one step at a time." Cook has been involved with SIFE since her freshman year and will be taking the role of ORU SIFE President next year. When asked about the Regional Competition, Cook says, "...I was overjoyed and felt so accomplished that all of our hard work had paid off. I cannot wait to bring even more positive publicity to ORU when we go to national and compete and hopefully win."

The ORU SIFE team is in its fourth year and is comprised of over 200 students from 15 different majors. SIFE is an international nonprofit organization active on more than 1,500 university campuses in 40 countries.
