ORU Takes Another Step Toward Economic Vitality Through Rightsizing Staff
TULSA, Okla. Oral Roberts University (ORU) will take another step toward economic vitality by rightsizing the university staff. This initiative will affect approximately 50 positions.
"The university has made excellent strides financially and these upcoming changes are necessary to continue on this road to economic vitality," said Mark Rutland, president of ORU. "This progress is crucial to ensuring the mission of this great institution for generations to come."
After the reduction, ORU will be more closely aligned with staffing levels of similar institutions of higher education. This is an important step in achieving a balanced budget.
Those employees whose positions are affected will be relieved of their duties but will continue to be employed by ORU for 60 days. They will retain their salary and benefits during this time as they search for other job opportunities.
In addition, an outplacement company has been hired to assist affected employees in their job search. They will have an opportunity to attend seminars on resume writing, interviewing and networking.
The reductions will be made to departments throughout the university. No current faculty positions will be affected in the reduction which will allow the university to continue to offer outstanding, whole-person degree programs to students.
