ORU Announces Senator James Lankford as Commencement Speaker

Tulsa, OK – Oral Roberts University today announced Oklahoma Senator James Lankford
as its 2019 Commencement speaker at the ORU Mabee Center on Saturday, May 4, 2019
at 1:00pm.
“Senator Lankford has a reputation as a voice of morality and truth, a leader who
is passionate about the sanctity of life, and one who works toward increased religious
liberty, economic growth, and fiscal responsibility,” said ORU President Dr. William
M. Wilson. “We are honored to have the Senator join us as we send another class of
world-changers ‘to the uttermost bounds of the earth.’”
Senator Lankford served four years in the U.S. House of Representatives for central
Oklahoma until his election to the U.S. Senate in 2014. Before serving in Congress,
Senator Lankford served in ministry for more than 20 years including as Director of
Student Ministry for the Baptist Convention of Oklahoma and Director of the Falls
Creek Youth Camp, the largest youth camp in the United States.
In the Senate, he serves on several committees including Finance, Appropriations,
Indian Affairs, and Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs where he is also the
Chairman of the Regulatory Affairs and Federal Management Subcommittee.
The commencement celebration for ORU’s 52nd graduating class will be broadcast live
on ORU’s National Television Network GEB on DirecTV 363 or in Tulsa on KGEB-TV-53/Cox
