Shreveport, Louisiana - Oral Roberts University Public Relations and Advertising undergraduate
students competed in the 2019 National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC) this
week, sponsored by the American Advertising Federation (AAF). The regional competition
was held in Shreveport, Louisiana.
ORU’s team won the Judges’ award for Outstanding Presenter. The award was made by
Wienerschnitzel’s Chief Marketing Officer Doug Koegeboehn. The team’s presenters,
Madison Dillingham, Lauryn Scott, Holli Anne Spears, and Seth Roche, were recognized
at the NSAC Awards Dinner at Shreveport’s Convention Center Thursday night.
Wienerschnitzel was chosen by AAF as the 2018-2019 client sponsor. As the world’s
largest hot dog chain, Wienerschnitzel asked students to create a campaign to shift
perceptions about hot dogs to grow demand for the category nationally.
“We were excited to see the team’s hard work recognized through the Judges’ award,”
said Cristi Eschler-Freudenrich, ORU assistant professor and NSAC faculty team advisor.
“Our team invested in primary and secondary research, creative messaging and promotional
activities about the client to position the hot dog as ‘The Official Food for Fun.’”
In addition to the Judges’ award, ORU senior Public Relations and Advertising major
Stephenie Wimberly was awarded a $2,500 District 10 scholarship. The scholarship is
based on a student’s academic performance and professional portfolio, along with an
essay on how advertising integrates into the student’s career goals.
This is ORU’s sixth year to compete in the AAF competition. This year’s District competition included 14 colleges and universities from Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma.
