Tulsa, OK – Oral Roberts University honored Coach Bob Canada for his 29 years of teaching
and coaching at the university by naming a new Health, Leisure and Sports Sciences
(HLSS) conference room in his honor on February 27, 2019.
Coach Canada was ORU Men’s Golf coach from 1991 to 2006; he was awarded Mid-Continent
Conference Coach from 1998-2001, and again in 2003. During those same years, Canada’s
teams were also Mid-Continent Conference Champions. Canada leads the Mid-Continent
Conference and Summit League with the most men’s golf coaching championships with
five.
Canada has also contributed to ORU in academics by directing summer school programs
from 1991-1992 and serving as the Director of Continuing Education. He has served
as an assistant HLSS Professor since 1994 as well as the head of the Recreation Administration
Degree Program.
Canada was an Associate Athletic Director from 1993-1994.
ORU surprised Canada by naming the conference room in the Aerobics Center (AC) in
his honor immediately following his retirement ceremony. Paula Marshall, CEO of Bama
Companies, who helped fund the conference room renovation, was also in attendance
to thank Canada for his years of service.
