Remembering Ossie Mills
The following is a statement from ORU President Dr. William M. Wilson:
It is with a broken heart that I share the news of the passing of alumnus Ossie Mills, ORU’s former Vice President of Marketing and Communications, as well as former Executive Director and Global Council member for Empowered21. Ossie passed away February 5, 2019 as the result of an apparent heart attack.
Ossie served as a Vice President at Oral Roberts University beginning in 2011 and as Executive Director and Global Council member for Empowered21 from 2013 to 2018. During the autumn of 2018, Ossie transitioned from ORU and E21 to lead a start-up media initiative called tvChaz. Ossie’s relational grace and exceptional leadership were a huge blessing in every area of ministry where he served. His absence will be felt greatly.
On a personal level, Ossie was a wonderful friend. Over the last few years, we shared amazing times witnessing what God is doing around the world in the Spirit-empowered movement. We made history together. I will miss Ossie’s friendship deeply. God’s Kingdom on earth has been diminished by this loss of giftedness and knowledge. However, I know that our loss is heaven’s gain and that Ossie’s reward will be great.
Please join me in praying for Ossie’s wife Bonnie, his sons Alex and Nick, as well as his daughter-in-law Olivia. Funeral arrangements should be forthcoming over the days ahead.
