Day of RingingTulsa, OK – Oral Roberts University has partnered with the Tulsa Area Salvation Army for a “Day of Ringing,” adopting all 25 kettle locations in the Tulsa Metro on Monday, November 12, 2018. Students, faculty and staff have signed up to work two-hour shifts throughout the day, beginning at 11:00am and ending at 7:00pm. The locations include all Tulsa area Reasor’s, Woodland Hills Mall, Walgreens at Utica Square, and Bass Pro Shops in Broken Arrow.

“Last year, ORU set a record in single-day donations to the Salvation Army Kettle program with its first annual Day of Ringing and we are excited to try and top that this year,” said ORU President Dr. William M. Wilson. “As we educate our students to be Whole Persons, we want them to live with compassion for those in need and demonstrate the love of Christ in tangible ways.”

The first shift from 11am to 1pm at most all of the locations will be covered by ORU Athletes and coaches.

“Our athletes greatly appreciate the Tulsa area and all the support they receive from this wonderful community,” said ORU Athletic Director Mike Carter. “This is a great way to give back to the community and provide much-needed help to the Salvation Army.”

According to the Salvation Army, volunteers are the difference between an empty kettle and one that raises as much as $30 per hour. One hour at a kettle can shelter a family for a night, provide a hot meal to ten homeless people, or provide homework tutoring to an at-risk youth.

Dr. Wilson is expected the ring the bell around 3pm at the Reasor’s at 111th and Memorial.

ORU cheerleaders are also “Bringing Good Cheer” to the Salvation Army by collecting toys across campus, and the University will also be collecting toys as admission to its annual Christmas Concert, Friday, November 30, 2018.
