ORU Hosts Technology Workshops

Tulsa, OK – Oral Roberts University is hosting three events to help educators and
churches take advantage of the latest technologies including blockchain, augmented
reality, and virtual reality. The three conferences will bring together speakers and
educators from global organizations and over 30 different colleges and universities.
Blockchain Essentials in Education will be held Wednesday, May 16, 2018 from 8am to 5pm at ORU’s Global Learning Center (GLC). The event will enable education professionals to understand how blockchain technologies such as cryptocurrency, smart contracts, distributed databases, and public ledgers are transforming education. The conference features industry-leading speakers and companies from Oracle, TrustedKey, Workday, Salesforce, TouchNet, Ellucian, Deloitte, and many more. For more information: blockchain-education18
ORU is also on the leading edge of using augmented and virtual reality (AVR) in education. The following day, on Thursday, May 17, 2018, the University will host an event that will include experts discussing how and why AVR is changing the world and how to create a strategy for using it. AVR is shown to increase student engagement and provides real-world environments to help students when they enter the workforce. This event will also be held at ORU’s innovative Global Learning Center from 8am to 5pm and will include tours of the GLC. For more information: arvr-education18
Finally, ORU will host a seminar on the ways churches and ministries can use AVR to
reach people with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Speakers include L. Michelle Salvant
who co-developed BelieveVR, a one-of-a-kind Christian VR Storytelling App and Mission:VR,
a program that introduces churches, ministries, and educational organizations to VR
