Developing Whole Leaders for the whole World

Moved By The Future: An ORU Alum Looks Ahead

johnie hampton fall 2017By Johnie Hampton, Chair, ORU Alumni Board

Recently, I had the opportunity as the representative of our distinguished alumni to pray over our record-breaking freshmen class. In this sea of hopeful faces, I saw ambition, passion, and an anxious expectation of what God will do with them and in them over the next four years.

I was very moved.

We alums can understand their feelings because we stood there once, too. It was the first moment of our new lives. We had no idea where the journey ahead would lead, but we knew Who was leading it.

It was our time for beginnings. Our moment to push into the world and develop our talents for God’s glory. And now, that time is theirs.

The future of ORU is without limits.

Although as alumni our experiences at ORU varied greatly, we are—across time and distance—equally united in our true mission: to hear God’s voice and GO:

Into all the world.
Into every nation, every industry, every challenge.
With God’s healing power.

More and more, I’ve been honored and humbled by the Spirit-empowered impact our alumni are having across the globe, from the 100% placement rate of our nursing grads to the two millionth documented salvation noted by one of our alumni in their ministry. Or the fact that our biology department is doing groundbreaking cancer research! Wherever you find an ORU alum, you find someone Making No Little Plans. And I believe it started with hearing God’s voice here at ORU.

Come see for yourself.

If you haven’t visited ORU lately, this is your official invitation. Come home. Let’s celebrate together as the same Spirit of God who called you to ORU in the beginning is still calling today. What Is He saying to you?
