Tulsa, OK – Oral Roberts University is once again helping Tulsa area parents with reliable childcare opportunities. It has also become a great way for Tulsa area residents to hire students to house sit or even help with an elderly family member.
The University is hosting its annual nanny fair on Wednesday, August 30 from 4-6 p.m. in Christ Chapel. The event will connect students with local families looking for a nanny or babysitter or even a house sitter during the 2017-2018 academic year.
Last year 91 parents signed up and 120 students attended the event that features a speed-networking format. Parents are given 90 seconds to share about their children and any specific childcare needs and then students are given 90 seconds to highlight their qualifications and availability. After the interviews, participants are encouraged to exchange contact information. In addition, ORU Career Services sends out a master student contact list at the conclusion of the event. Last year parents continued to call the University looking for students.
“Families always tell us how much they love our students,” said Kelan Henderson ORU Director of Career Services. “The students are trustworthy and that’s what keeps people coming back not just asking for help with childcare but with other needs as well.”
