Tulsa, OK – Oral Roberts University’s Hyperloop Pod will be one of the featured exhibits
at this year’s Mini Maker Faire hosted by Fab Lab Tulsa. From engineers to artists
to scientists and crafters, Maker Faire is described as a venue for makers to show
hobbies, experiments and projects.
ORU engineering students and Professor Dr. Robert Leland will be on hand to answer questions about the pod Saturday, August 26, from 10am to 5pm at Expo Square’s Central Park Hall. There will also be an opportunity to experience the pod in Virtual Reality.
ORU Team “Codex” is among a prestigious list of university teams participating in the hyperloop competition sponsored by billionaire inventor Elon Musk and his company SpaceX. The company says the competition’s goal is to accelerate the development of functional prototypes and encourage innovation by challenging teams to design and build the best high-speed pod. The pods would travel through a vacuum tube system to eventually carry people the distance between LA and San Francisco in under 30 minutes.
ORU’s team has attended one competition in Texas, another in California and is hoping to return.
