Tulsa, OK – More and more research shows people can find healing through music so Oral Roberts University is planning to host another Healing Concert Friday, March 31, 2017 at 7 p.m.

This year residents of Montereau battling dementia will benefit from the second Healing Concert developed and organized through ORU’s music therapy program. Montereau has, for more than two years, been sending some of its seniors to the clinic on campus to receive professional music therapy services for physical endurance, memory enhancement, social interaction, emotional support, and coping skills. Montereau is also one of ORU’s clinical training sites.

“We had a very successful first healing concert last April,” said Hayoung Lim, Director of ORU’s Music Therapy Program. “It really benefited children with Autism Spectrum Disorders when we performed at the Little Lighthouse last year. We hope to see the same benefits for those with dementia at this year’s concert.”

The concert will be held in Montereau’s Coterie Theater located at 6800 S. Granite Avenue in Tulsa. It’s free and open to the public, but donations will be accepted.

"Montereau is very excited and honored to host the Healing Concert,” said Laura Allen, Montereau’s Therapeutic Recreation Manager. “Funds raised will help in the continued partnership with ORU's Music Therapy Clinic, which greatly benefits all of the residents that participate."

Faculty from ORU’s College of Music as well as Music Therapy faculty and students will perform during the concert.
For those planning to attend the concert, please contact Montereau’s Melissa Beeler. Her contact information is listed above.
