ORU Quest to Host Cyber Security Seminars to Protect Organizations in the Digital Age

Cyber SecurityEach day, organizations around the globe are facing an increasing risk of cyber-attacks. To help protect organizations in the region, ORU Quest, a division of Oral Roberts University, will host a Cyber Security Seminar at the Mabee Center on September 17, 2015. This event for business professionals will address how to protect organizations from cybercrime in the digital age.

Two seminars and a luncheon will be offered. The morning session designed for C-level executives CEOs, CIO’s, CSOs, CFOs, COOs will highlight best-practices at high decision making levels to reduce cyber risk. The executive private luncheon will feature special guest speaker William M. Wilson, president of Oral Roberts University.

The afternoon session will include an operational approach to cyber security with the target audiences being directors, managers and support teams. Attendees will learn how to leverage existing security controls to improve organizational security.

The seminars will feature speakers Stephen Watkins, associate principal for Cisco Systems, and Michael Mathews, chief information officer at ORU.

Watkins has worked for more than 19 years in the information security field. He served as the Information Security Director at Regent University, as the Principal Perimeter Security Architect for a large government project and security consultant with Fortune 50 and Fortune100 clients. Watkins created technology and information security curriculum and has co-authored several publications including Hack the Stack and Configuring Check Point NGX VPN-1/FireWall-1.

Mathews has 24 years of experience as a senior-level IT executive. He spent 12 years as an instructor and global training manager at Cray Research and 10 years at SunGard High Education where he served as CIO and vice president of academic services. Mathews was named the 2013 Innovator of the Year by Campus Technology for his creation of the Educational and Career Positioning System.
