ORU Student Receives National Mathematics Scholarship

By Madeline Osiwala

math scholarshipOral Roberts University student Sariah Reese was recently awarded the Waldemar J. Trjitzinsky Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship was created to assist students who have declared a major in mathematics at a college or university that is an institutional member of the American Mathematical Society (AMS).

Each year AMS selects a number of geographically distributed schools that make one-time awards to beginning mathematical students to assist them in pursuit of careers in mathematics. The amount of each scholarship is $3,000.

Reese was born and raised in Lawton, Oklahoma. She attended Eisenhower Senior High School where she maintained a 4.0 GPA and graduated with honors in 2012. Reese’s career goal is to become the Superintendent of a school district in order to impact the lives and education of the upcoming generations of students.
