ORU to Host Two-Time Pulitzer Prize Winner Michael Ramirez

Oral Roberts University is hosting two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Michael Ramirez on Thursday, September 18, at 7 p.m. in Zoppelt Auditorium on the ORU campus. The event is free and open to the public.

The highly acclaimed international speaker will present various pieces of his cartoon work during his presentation titled, “Editorial Cartooning, Journalism, and a Citizen’s Responsibility.”

Ramirez is the senior editor of Investor’s Business Daily. His work is seen worldwide in over four hundred newspapers and magazines through Creators Syndicate. He is a regular contributor to The Weekly Standard Magazine and was a member of the A-Team on the “Lou Dobbs Tonight Show” on the Fox Business Network. He has appeared on CNN, CNN International, “Fox News Sunday,” “America Live,” Fox Business, BBC Television, BBC Radio, NPR, the “Michael Reagan Show” and was a regular on the “News Hour” with Jim Lehrer.

Former editorial cartoonist for the Los Angeles Times, Ramirez’s cartoon work has been featured on CNN, Fox News, Fox Business, “The Bill O’Reilly Show” and “The Rush Limbaugh Show.” His work can be seen in such publications as the New York Times, USA Today, the Washington Post, the New York Post, Time Magazine, National Review and U.S. News and World Report.

Ramirez has won almost every major journalism award in America including the 2005 National Journalism Award, the 2008 Fischetti Award, the H. L. Mencken Award and is a four-time National Cartoonists Society editorial cartoon division winner. The National Cartoonists Society recently honored Ramirez as the Editorial Cartoonist of the Year for the fourth time. He is a three-time Sigma Delta Chi Society of Professional Journalism Award winner, a Lincoln Fellow and an honorary member of Pi Sigma Alpha National Political Science Honor Society. Ramirez is also the recipient of the prestigious UCI Medal from the University of California, Irvine.

Ramirez will be available to sign copies of his book, “Everyone Has the Right to My Opinion” after the event.
