ORU Hosts Free Performances of “The Diary of Anne Frank” for Local Students

By Madeline Osiwala

The Oral Roberts University theatre department will provide a historical experience for many local students with three free performances of “The Diary of Anne Frank.” The performances will take place September 17-19 in Howard Auditorium on the ORU campus.

Additional shows will be open to the public September 18, 19 and 20 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, September 21 at 2:00 p.m. in Howard Auditorium. Tickets range from $5 - $10. Cash only at the door. General admission seating.

The script is a powerful new adaptation of “The Diary of Anne Frank” by Wendy Kesselman. In the play, Frank emerges from history a living, lyrical, intensely gifted young girl, who confronts her rapidly changing life and the increasing horror of her time with astonishing honesty, wit and determination.

The story follows the lives of eight people hiding from the Nazis in a concealed storage attic, and captures the claustrophobic realities of their daily existence—their fear, their hope, their laughter, their grief. Each day of these two dark years, Anne's voice shines through.
