Bishop Named Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations

Laura BishopOral Roberts University President William M. Wilson is pleased to announce the appointment of Laura Brash Bishop as Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations. Bishop, who has most recently served as the Executive Director of the National Christian Foundation of South Florida, will begin her new position with the university on October 1.

“I am thrilled that Laura will be joining our team of world-class professionals, who are working tirelessly toward increasing the impact of ORU around the world,” said Wilson. “Laura’s relational skills, experience and professionalism will serve our alumni and friends well. Her leadership in this new role will be paramount during the celebration of our 50th anniversary and as we launch our $50 million anniversary campaign.”

Bishop was chosen as the Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations after an extensive search. She will serve on the President’s Cabinet and will be responsible for planning, prioritizing, organizing and executing ORU’s development, fundraising and alumni relations efforts worldwide.

In addition to her work as the Executive Director of the National Christian Foundation of South Florida – an affiliate of the largest Christian grant-making organization in the world, which has gathered more than $6 billion dollars since 1982—she also served as the Co-Executive Director of Lifework Leadership of South Florida, a business executive leadership program that incorporates a biblical worldview.

Bishop has spent more than a decade as a development executive including work as Development and Communications Director for both Habitat for Humanity of Broward and Westminster Academy. For over ten years Bishop served as the popular radio talk show host of "Homeroom" on GRACE FM for the South Florida market. Bishop was also the owner and president of Bishop Public Relations, which served Fortune 500 companies.

Bishop is a 1991 ORU alumna having earned a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational/Interpersonal Communications with a minor in Business Administration. As a student, she served as Vice President of Student Activities and helped organize the university’s 25th anniversary celebration.

Bishop has been married to her husband, David, for more than 20 years. They have two children—their daughter currently attends ORU and their son is in high school.

"As we embark on our half century mark, it is an honor to be called back to my alma mater to serve as the Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations. I'm excited to be a part of a team helping to unite ORU's incredible alumni as we encourage our supporters to invest in this great university," said Bishop.
