ORU Offering New Meal Plan and Tiered Housing Options for Fall 2014

In response to student feedback, Oral Roberts University announces tiered pricing to student housing and dining options beginning Fall 2014 to create greater value and provide more options.

Students almost unanimously asked for four things: tiered pricing, more meal periods, a cheaper option and more Sodexo bucks.

Our new pricing structure accounts for these requests. We're confident this model is going to provide the best possible student experience for the largest number of students.

Housing Cost Structure

Under the new model, ORU has developed four tiers of double room pricing, and six tiers of single room pricing. Tiered pricing is an approach to balance out pricing, and create affordable options for both single and double rooms. Additionally, the student cafeteria will offer several new meal periods and redesigned meal plans offering tiered pricing, as well. These plans offer greater convenience and more options for students.

Dining Plan Options

On the dining side, the student cafeteria will expand its meal periods to include late breakfast and late lunch periods during the week, and an additional brunch period during the weekend. The total number of available meal periods will increase from 19 to 31 meal periods per week. These additional meal periods will make convenience better for all meal plan holders, adding additional opportunities to use their meal plans.

The new meal plans include three "Flexible All Access" plans that provide unlimited access to the student cafeteria. These plans allow you to dine as many times as you want per day, with the new continuous dining program. The two basic plans are designed for students who require fewer on-campus meals.

The cafeteria operating hours, will now be 7 a.m. - 7 p.m., Monday - Friday (open continuously) and 10:30 a.m.- 2pm (Early Brunch and Brunch), and 4:30pm - 6:30 p.m. (Dinner) on the weekends. Sodexo bucks - which can be used anytime, particularly for late-night retail dining - are packaged at $300, $450 and $600 amounts, respective to the chosen tier.

Basic plans include a10-meals per week option, and a 14-meals per week with $100 Sodexo bucks option, allowing use of any of the 31 meal periods offered per week based upon the allotted meals of your plan.

BASIC PLAN
Basic One 10 meals/week in cafeteria $1,995/semester
Basic Plus 14 meals/week + $100 Sodexo Bucks/semester $2,295/semester
(for only $300 more than the Basic One, you get $100 in Sodexo Bucks, plus an approx 64 more meals per semester)

*All Access- unlimited access to the ORU Dining Hall continuous dining program in Hamill Student Center.

These new plans reflect changes in services, added flexibility, and avoid additional inflationary price increases that would have kicked in, as scheduled, under previous models.
