Music Theory Roundtable
ORU to Host Annual Conference of the Oklahoma Music Theory Roundtable
Oral Roberts University will be the host site for the 2013 Oklahoma Music Theory Roundtable. The conference will take place on the ORU campus in the Timko Barton Performance Hall on Oct. 11, 2013.
The conference will include lectures from ORU professors as well as other Oklahoma music education professionals. Sessions include the following: “Current Practices and Curriculum Needs Among Oklahoma Music Theory Instructors,” “Manipulations of Sonata-Rondo Forms in Beethoven’s Final Two Symphonies,” “Utilizing Computer Programming to Analyze Post-Tonal Music: A Segmentation and Contour Analysis of Kazuo Fukushima’s Mei for Solo Flute” and “Books: So You Want to Get Published?”
The Oklahoma Music Theory Round Table is the oldest existing professional society for music theorists. The group, whose membership consists of teachers and students of music theory at the college level from throughout Oklahoma, meets yearly at one of the colleges or universities in the state.
