ORU Nursing Students Host Second Annual “Baby Shower for Ghana”
The Anna Vaughn College of Nursing at Oral Roberts University hosted their second annual “Baby Shower for Ghana” on Friday Jan. 11, 2013 from 3 p.m.-7 p.m. The baby shower was held in the nursing department on the third floor of ORU’s Graduate Center.
The shower was first held after ORU nursing students saw a desperate need for baby supplies while working at the Manna Mission Hospital in Ghana, Africa during 2011. This year, donations will benefit the hospital as well as House of Grace, a home for young girls who are at-risk in Kumasi, Ghana.
Nursing students along with two ORU faculty members are traveling to Ghana, Africa to personally deliver the donated baby items in late January. The students will be receiving credit for the clinical aspect of the NUR 405 Patterns of Leadership Course.
The Tulsa community is being asked to donate swaddling blankets, onesies, infant T-shirts, cloth diapers, plastic pants for cloth diapers, diaper pins, socks, hats, crib sheets, soft wash clothes, and baby towels. Please do not send liquids, lotions, formula or baby wipes because students may not take these with them due to weight and size restrictions.
For those who are unable to attend the shower, gifts or checks can be sent to the Oral Roberts University Anna Vaughn College of Nursing, c/o Georgia White, 7777 S. Lewis Ave., Tulsa, OK 74171. If writing a check, please put "Baby Shower for Ghana" in the memo line.
