ORU Hosts a Nanny Fair for Local Families

Oral Roberts University students are known for having high moral and ethical standards. Because of this, many families have sought out ORU students to assist them with childcare. ORU will be hosting a Nanny Fair on August 28 from 4-6 p.m. to connect students with families who are looking for a nanny or babysitter for the 2012-2013 school year.

The students and families will connect in a speed-networking format. There will be tables around a banquet room where families will sit and share with interested students about their children and childcare needs for 90 seconds. Then students will talk for 90 seconds about themselves, highlighting their skills and availability. This networking structure enhances efficiency for “interviewing” at least 15 candidates.

After traveling to each table, families can participate in a more open social setting to receive contact information from students or retain a master list provided by ORU. About 65-75 students are expected to participate.

"The idea for the event was fueled by seeing numerous requests and job postings coming in from the Tulsa community each Fall and continuing throughout the year for child care needs,” said Allison Jones, Director of Career Services. “We decided to create a venue to help these two groups connect more effectively."

This event, now in its third year, has expanded and will take place in the East Banquet Room of the South Lobby in the Mabee Center. To RSVP for the Nanny Fair contact ORU Career Services at 918-495-6912 or careers@oru.edu.
