Make No Little Plans at Oral Roberts University

(As published in the Tulsa World on April 1, 2012)

"Make no little plans here." This powerful challenge of ORU's Founder, Oral Roberts, is central to the DNA of the university bearing his name. Oral Roberts University is a world-renowned Christian university that focuses on building spirit-empowered leaders to impact their world. Graduates launch from ORU prepared to achieve their dreams because of a unique education centered on the whole-person - spirit, mind and body.

ORU offers 60+ undergraduate majors and 50+ minors, a variety of pre-professional programs including pre-med and pre-law and graduate programs in business, education and theology. The university also offers online learning, modular opportunities and a one-night-a-week adult degree completion program.

ORU's six colleges - the College of Arts and Cultural Studies, the College of Business, the College of Education, the Anna Vaughn College of Nursing, the College of Science and Engineering and the College of Theology and Ministry - are committed to instilling students with the excellence and skills needed to be highly capable leaders in their world. The passionate faculty at ORU provides individual attention and mentoring - thanks in part to a 14-to-1 student-to-faculty ratio.

ORU was ranked by The Princeton Review as one of the "Best of the West" in its "2012 Best Colleges". Student life is a rich experience that includes NCAA Division 1 athletics, more than 30 academic and co-curricular clubs, a wide range of leadership development opportunities and a diverse student body. Students can also participate in independent study, internships, study abroad experiences and an honors program.

Jennifer Smith, 2010 ORU graduate with a dual degree in Government and Business Administration, currently is impacting the lives of students in Dallas, Texas as part of Teach for America, a national service corps dedicated to eliminating the achievement gap in low-income schools. Jennifer remembers the faculty at ORU as always encouraging her to advocate for her personal and professional dreams.

Jacque Otto, a 2010 Government graduate, is making her mark on the world as a writer and researcher for think tanks in Washington D.C. She valued the quality political science education, flexibility in the degree program and opportunities for out-of-the classroom learning experiences. The ORU faculty connected me with local campaigns, helped me get involved with the award-winning Oklahoma Intercollegiate Legislature (OIL) team and supported me when I spent a semester interning in Washington, D.C. through the American Studies program." Jacque's ORU education also provided a solid foundation for pursuing her master's degree in business while in the nation's capital.

A culturally rich campus that actively engages students to hear God's voice; an outstanding faculty dedicated to providing a dynamic learning environment; and a commitment to excellence in every aspect of campus life sets ORU apart from other universities. ORU inspires students to make big plans. Ask any of the students who represent all four corners of the US and more than 50 nations around the world. Or better yet explore ORU for yourself. You'll agree there is no place like ORU!
