ORU Hosts Nevada in NIT First Round

NIT logoAfter posting a 27-6 record and a 17-1 record en route to winning the Summit League Regular Season Championship, Oral Roberts University men's basketball team earned a four seed in the NIT and will host Nevada (26-6) in the first round. That game will tip off from the Mabee Center at 8:15 (CT) on Wednesday, March 14, and will be televised online at ESPN3.com.

Nevada is coming off a loss to Louisiana Tech in the second round of the WAC Tournament, but won the regular season championship with a 13-1 conference mark.

"We are excited about the NIT. We face a very talented and well-coached Nevada team on Wednesday night," said Head Coach Scott Sutton. You don't get an opportunity like this very often. Last time in the NIT we had to go to Maryland. Hopefully our fans and our students will come out. This team has done an amazing job all year and they deserve for the fans to support them."

This will be the eighth trip to the NIT for the Golden Eagles, the second under Sutton (2004-05). Bill self led the Golden Eagles to the NIT in his final season (1996-97), and ORU also made trips in 1971-72, 1972-73, 1974-75, 1976-77 and 1981-82. The Golden Eagles have not won an NIT game since the 1975 tournament (2-7 all time).
