By Natasha Mitchell ('94)
A town hall event with GOP Presidential Candidate Rick Santorum on Thursday, Feb. 9 draws more than 4,000 attendees to the Mabee Center on the campus of Oral Roberts University. Live streaming of the Santorum broadcast attracted 13,329 viewers.
The program included Kara Evans, president of the ORU College Republicans, and Matt Pinnell, chairman of the Oklahoma Republican Party. Pinnell thanked participants for attending the forum and welcomed ORU President Mark Rutland, who introduced Santorum.
Santorum presented comments and answered questions given by ORU students.
Evans said she was excited to meet Santorum and to represent ORU and the government department.
"I am really excited to be a part of this great experience and to represent ORU," she said. "It was great to interact with Sen. Santorum, and his team has expressed interest in returning to ORU. We certainly hope they will come again."
The event was presented as academic and educational opportunity for the campus, region, state and nation.
