ORU honors local first responders at 9-11 memorial service

Oral Roberts University plans to memorialize the 10th anniversary of the 9-11 attack in a special way. A celebration at Christ's Chapel will honor all law enforcement, fire and emergency medical personnel from the Tulsa region at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 9, 2011. The event is free and open to the public.

"The whole ORU community is grateful knowing the local teams are ready to respond during every tragedy," said ORU President Dr. Mark Rutland. "We want to honor all of our first responders who protect and serve the citizens, in some cases, at the risk of their own life."

Tulsa mayor Dewey Bartlett is one of several speakers confirmed for the event. During the service, some exceptional first responders will be recognized and presented with a special gift.  There will be patriotic music by the ORU combined orchestra and choir.
