OneOK logoTULSA, OK - Oral Roberts University has received a $500,500 grant from Tulsa-based ONEOK to build a technology boardroom to support the Shark Tank senior project within the College of Business. Approximately $260,000 will be given this summer towards the construction of the ONEOK Technology Boardroom, and the remaining funds will support the Shark Tank over the next 4 years.

"Supporting state and local-area higher education institutions, such as Oral Roberts University, is something we believe is important as we seek to attract and retain the talent we need to be successful today and in the future," said John W. Gibson, ONEOK chairman, president and chief executive officer. "We are proud to support the ORU College of Business Shark Tank program, a unique hands-on learning experience that allows students to apply what they have learned in the classroom to a real-world business plan."

The technology boardroom will be a high-tech, executive-style boardroom that will serve as a teaching lab for the College of Business and be the host environment of the Shark Tank. The Shark Tank is a program that affords students the opportunity to pitch business and project ideas to investors during their senior paper project a final project that includes a business plan for their idea. If the student convinces the investors their project is worthy of support, money is given toward the fruition of the idea.

"ORU is deeply grateful to ONEOK for their generous gift to the College of Business," said ORU President Dr. Mark Rutland. "This partnership with ONEOK gives us new resources to prepare our students to excel in their future careers. Great companies like ONEOK will benefit from hiring ORU's graduates who have been challenged in such a professional environment."

The ORU College of Business offers a broad range of undergraduate degrees tailored to today's most in-demand areas of concentration. Faculty includes professors, who are not only outstanding teachers, but also experienced as company presidents, international marketing executives, CPAs and entrepreneurs. Students receive one-on-one attention from business professors that are not available in most programs of this stature.

Approximately one third of all ORU students go through the College of Business either by major or minor. Business graduates are well received in their field. The recent graduating class ranked in the 95th percentile on the National Field Test, which determines whether students know what they should when they have completed their undergraduate business program.
