ORU Alumni Foundation Board commits $75,000 to Alumni-Student Center
At their quarterly meeting on Aug. 11, the Oral Roberts University Alumni Foundation Board of Directors voted to give $75,000 to ORU for the Armand Hammer Alumni-Student Center project.
The $75,000 will come from the foundation's unrestricted funds.
"This gift shows that the Alumni Foundation is working hard to support what's important
to the University," said Rick Fenimore, a two-time ORU graduate who serves on the
board. He hopes the gift will "send a strong message" to other alumni and encourage
them to make their own gifts and pledges to this project.
"For decades, Oral Roberts University alumni have faithfully supported programs that
advance the University's mission, such as the current campaign to raise funds for
a new alumni-student center," said Alumni Foundation Board Chair Jesse Pisors. "I
fully believe that the Armand Hammer Alumni-Student Center is a crucial, long-term
investment in the continuity of ORU's ability to change the world by providing a whole-person
education to people from across the nation and around the world. It is personally
very satisfying for me to be working closely with ORU alumni at this time in the University's
history."
October 1 is the deadline for gifts and pledges. Those who make a pledge have until
April 30, 2012, to fulfill their commitment.
ORU will break ground on the Alumni-Student Center in early 2012.
