ORU Hosts a Nanny Fair for Local Families
Because of their reputation for having high moral and ethical standards, over the years, many families have sought out Oral Roberts University students to assist them with childcare. ORU will be hosting a Nanny Fair from 4 to 6 p.m. August 23 on the sixth floor of the Graduate Center in the Trustees Dining Room to help families link up with students.
Students will be connected with families who are looking for a nanny or babysitter for the 2011-2012 school year. Tables will be arranged in a conference room so that families will sit and share with interested students about their children and childcare needs for about 90 seconds similar to a speed-networking format. Then students will talk for 90 seconds about themselves.
After traveling to each table, families can participate in a more open social setting to receive contact information from students. About 50 students are expected to participate.
"The idea for the event was fueled by seeing numerous requests and job postings coming in from the Tulsa community each fall and continuing throughout the year for child care needs," said Allison Jones, director of ORU Career Services. "We decided to create a venue to help these two groups connect more effectively."
